Sir Dorbaji And Meherbai Greatest Love Story And Sacrifice.

We call Taj Mahal the greatest symbol of love. But this is a kind of lie. There is one more secret place in India. Which is bigger Icon of love than the Taj Mahal. Entry fees are zero, people come here crying and leave with a smile... Before we learn about this monument of love, let us understand what love means? The hero of our story is Sir Dorabji Tata. He made sure India reached the Olympics! He funded the first Olympic team with his own money. The same team won back to back gold for India. 14th February 1898 on Valentine's Day Sir Dorabji was married to the heroine of this story "Meherbai" And just we give each other gifts out of love, 2 years later, on their wedding anniversary, Sir Dorabji gifted his wife a small gift as a token of his love. A Diamond, not an oridinary one. Twice as big as the Kohinoor Diamond. Which was 245 Carats and100000 Pounds. In today's times, that would be Rs.131 Crores. This diamond was called Jubilee Diamond. The experts who worked on this diamond in London were upon an opinion that this diamond would aborn Her Majesty's Crown. But Sir Dorabji Tara had some other plans. He bought this diamond for his wife, Meherbai. Meherbai was so special for Sir Dorabji. When the whole world didn't allow their women to vote, She asked this question "Why can't our women be leaders whether it was meeting the US President or The King and Queen of England" She always wore a saree. She was very pound of her culture. And she'd wear her diamond with price. The diamond that even the Queen of England couldn't own was owned by Meherbai. What is Love? Maybe buying expensive gifts is Love? So then where is this Diamond? After Jamsetji Tara, Sir Dorabji Tara took over the reins of the bussiness. Tara was one of the finest Indian companies. It was on the verge of being the best steel company in the world. But the Tatas also fell into bad times. After the World War I, Tatas were in financial trouble. They had no cash! The labours were protesting. In1924, news reached Sir Dorabji Tara that Tara Steel had completely run out of cash. There wasn't even enough cash to pay workers cash to pay workers their wages. Without any hesitation Meherbai mortgaged all her jewelry and the total value of all of her jewllery was Rs. 1 crore in those times. This included the Jubliee Diamond as well. Then Sir Dorabji took a loan to pay the wages. Nobody lost their job. What is Love? Maybe it is sacrificing something you love for someone you love. After a few years, this sacrifice pushed up Tata fortunes and the company recovered. Tata Steel was once again at the cusp of being the best in the world. Because of Meherbai and Sir Dorabji's sacrifice the company is alive today. Slowly, Sir Dorabji's repaid all the bank loans and got back Meherbai's jewellery. Everything was going well. But the true test of love was yet to come. Meherbai celebrated her golden Jubliee in 1931. She was 50 when she heard of her cancer diagnosis. She did not have very long time. Sir Dorabji consulted the brightest and most experienced doctors. He didn't leave any stone unturned. The man who cared so Mich about his workers who takes loan to ensure they don't lose their jobs, Can you imagine what lengths he went for his love? Meherbai passed away in 1931 and Sir Dorabji followed her in 1932. But before he died, he left behind one symbol of his love. He sold The Jubliee Diamond and a trust was established named "Dorabji Tata Trust" And a building was constructed in Mumbai which was a symbol of our hero heroine's love. The named of the building is "Tata Memorial Hospital" What is Love? I don't know. But i know that every year 64000 cancer patients visit the Tata Memorial Hospital and more than 70% of the patients visiting there and get their treatment free. The cancer that took Meherbai the fight to defeat that cancer is still ongoing. Our hero and heroine passed away 90 years ago till the time patients keep winning against cancer. Till then, cancer won't win. What is Love? A beautiful building or a beautiful symbol? Sir Dorabji said to make more like this hospital. Not just in Mumbai there is a Tata Medical Centre in Kolkata as well. And many more in India. The symbol is not important. What it stands for is important. Our hero heroine are not alive to see this but it doesn't mean that their story is not alive. They sat diamond is forever. But We say we should know about this story and our future generation. We need to remember Sir Dorabji and Meherbai forever. This kind f love is Truly Rare. This love story is eternal beacasue it gives people a chance to live a second life.
