I think the ethical implications of these exercises need to be discussed in the article. I was taught in class that some of these exercises involved intentional irradiation of troops to learn the effects, often without consent. In Buster Jangle in particular, they tested what happened when troops looked directly at the flash with no eye protection. 128.193.8.12 (talk) 01:58, 22 November 2011 (UTC)

Safeguards present? edit
"Totskoye nuclear exercise of 1954, a somewhat comparable series of soviet exercises, although with much less radiation safeguards present." What safeguards are documented on the pictures of Desert Rock exercises? I can't see any, the soldiers are wearing the usual field gear.
