2020 Census Update edit
So, the article is full of "stuff" that doesn't really reflect census realities. And there's lots of "padding" talking about U.S. Immigration Law; Such as the 1790 Immigration Act, which had nothing to do with Puerto Rico until the 1898 Spanish American War. Between 1790-1898 it's immigration would be under Spanish, briefly French (via Napoleon) Law, though from 1804 to 1840s it's likely refugees from haiti & haitian occupied dominican republic affected it.

(please note: it's currently set on New York State, but the interface allows rapid change between States & Territories)
Very helpfully, it allows one to check the change between 2010 & 2020 Census, which, allows one to see how much a population changed in real numbers, as well as Reidentification. One of the Biggest changes, is the near disappearance of the "White Hispanic" (fell by -2,262,110 an 80.8% Drop!) while "Some Other Race+Hispanic" +547,000 189% & "Two Or More Race+ Hispanic" +1,512,000 grew as much as 1250% (all 50 Main US States had a similar extinction of the White Hispanic Category.)
The Current 2020 Numbers for Puerto Rico are:
Hispanic: 98.9% or 3,249,043 Non-Hispanic: 1.1 or 36,831 of which; Whites: 24,548, which fell from 2010 by 2,398
Sadly, the CDC NVSS Birth Data for Puerto Rico by Race isn't included on this page like it is for other states. I'm not in a position to link that info currently, I'm sorry to say. PS, the birth data for 2014 was ruined by Typographical error as it was for Guam & North Marianas Islands.
Non-Hispanic White Birth Mothers fell from 2,644 in 2013 to 298 in 2020.
The article doesn't "get" that nowdays, no one wants to be seen as "White" anymore, even "white" people. It's increasingly a "null" category, defined by hostile outsiders.2603:7080:CB3F:5032:7449:6155:9B71:BA6D (talk) 12:20, 25 September 2022 (UTC)
