Indeed they didn't, it needs to be removed. Branković did not participate in the Crusade of Varna. He did participate earlier and contributed to Peace of Szeged, however he didn't join the coalition that broke the peace, nor did he contribute to Ottoman victory. He restored entirety of his despotate and was desperate to consolidate his power by not participating in the Ottoman-Hungarian war. A book with a beautiful title that was used as a source for his alleged betrayal is nothing more then one in a sea of books of Balkan nationalistic quasi-historians.

I propose that Long campaign be merged into Crusade of Varna. I think that those two articles are on exactly the same subject and having the same scope. I think that the content in the Long campaign article can easily be explained in the context of Crusade of Varna, and the Crusade of Varna article is of a reasonable size in which the merging of Long campaign will not cause any problems as far as article size or undue weight is concerned. Template:Infobox military conflict says:

• combatant1/combatant2/combatant3 – optional – the parties participating in the conflict. This is most commonly the countries whose forces took part in the conflict; however, larger groups (such as alliances or international organizations) or smaller ones (such as particular units, formations, or groups) may be indicated if doing so improves reader understanding. When there is a large number of participants, it may be better to list only the three or four major groups on each side of the conflict, and to describe the rest in the body of the article. The combatant3 field may be used if a conflict has three distinct "sides", and should be left blank on other articles. Combatants should be listed in order of importance to the conflict, be it in terms of military contribution, political clout, or a recognized chain of command. If differing metrics can support alternative lists, then ordering is left to the editors of the particular article.

IP editor persistently adds (diff) very long list of combatants which does not follow what template for this field recommends. Very long list of every entity which existed in countries whose forces took part in this conflict, although many of them, if not all, are completely insignificant and subordinated to the chain of command on the country level. I propose to restore previous versions of the infobox which is more informative and follows recommendation for combatant field. I put back the involvement of the Karamanids which had beend deleted. The Long campaign and Crusade of Varna were different wars

The Long Campaign resulted in armistice and peace treaty, the Ottomans lost that campaign. The Crusada of Varna in the next year was a newer war. So it must be mentioned in a different new article. --Filederchest (talk) 21:11, 23 February 2018 (UTC)
