Does the "DSB" here stand for "Double-sideband transmission"? EVCM (talk) 05:45, 1 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Interesting diagram of the Crosby system: http://home.computer.net/~pcara/docs/pcud0505.pdf EVCM (talk) 05:59, 1 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Does anyone know, in what frequency range would the FM subcarrier for the Crosby system have been in? EVCM (talk) 06:04, 1 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Not NPOV edit

This article is strongly biased in favor of the Crosby system. Other than incompatibility with SCA, it says nothing about its major problems.

One problem is that it requires dematrixing. After the FM subcarrier is demodulated, it must be added to and subtracted from the main channel, to regenerate L and R. The Zenith/GE system permits a simple product-detection system that directly generates L and R.

Another problem is that the subcarrier is FM. (!!!) The Zenith/GE system's AM (actually DSBSC) subcarrier is notoriously subject to multipath distortion. Imagine how an FM signal would be disrupted -- unless you wanted to add several stages of wideband limiting. WilliamSommerwerck (talk) 02:50, 9 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
