West-Indian population edit

Consider mentioning sizeable West-Indian population who may have contributed to the name Aspinwall rather than U.S. emigres. The West-Indians, who now make up the majority population in Colon, were brought in by the thousands to work on the Canal (by the French and later by the Americans) and most probably contributed the former name of Colon. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Evan1261 (talkcontribs) 01:15, 9 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

McCain birth edit

Was John McCain really born at Colon Hospital? Accordeing to the Wikipedia entry for John McCain, he was born at Coco Solo Naval Hospital. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tjflynn2002 (talkcontribs) 01:50, 16 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

There is a document on scribd.com purporting to be McCain's birth certificate, with the birthplace listed as the Colón Hospital. But on May 20, 2008, Michael Dobbs, in the Fact Checker blog of the Washington Post (link to blog post), noted that he had seen McCain's birth certificate, and it was signed by the director of the Coco Solo hospital. So it seems reasonable to correct the entry on this page and elsewhere as appropriate. LibertyHiller (talk) 05:03, 12 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Free Zone edit

This article seems very incomplete as it does no mention of Colon Free Zone the principal source of employment of Colon and also one of the biggest commerce hubs in all Latin America —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.28.252.74 (talk) 22:58, 26 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Fort DeLesseps edit

becouse of the rather limited amount of information on this fort, i'm going to post it here instead of its own page. Brian in denver (talk) 18:39, 8 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
