Merge proposal edit

The result was merge. Wizard191 (talk) 13:35, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Each of these three articles:

consists mainly of an overview consisting of a list of names of coating techniques, without much running text. There is considerable duplication, while each of the three also has its gaps. It would be easier to maintain just one article giving a general overview, which would also make it easier to turn this into a full article.  --Lambiam 15:06, 18 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Support Since the merge was first proposed in September 2009, and since there is no consensus against merging these articles I am going ahead and doing it. I already merged List of coating techniques ----- Steve Quinn (formerly Ti-30X) (talk) 03:26, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Editing edit

The merge is complete. I placed an underconstruction tag at the top of the page - this lets people know the page is currently being edited. I guess some people who are familiar with these processes will have some organizing (and writing?) to do. Have fun - and happy editing. ----- Steve Quinn (formerly Ti-30X) (talk) 03:45, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

The material after the introduction in the orginal "Coating" article is under the section title: "From orginal 'coating' article" ----Steve Quinn (formerly Ti-30X) (talk) 03:52, 22 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Condensation-deposit process edit

Is this process listed here? It is used by Schneider Kreuznach on their camera filters. Kricke 20:35, 1 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

revamp edit

I'm surprised that this is so low on the two wikiprojects priority list- paints, printing, reflective, UV, anti-stick, self-adhesive, post-it notes, melamine kitchen surfaces- coatings are everywhere! I hope its OK to dive in and have a bash at the whole lot. the structure is a bit confusing on this article which may reflect the merge of several articles some time back. One issue to get out of the way: on the basis that all printing processes can be used as coating processes, but not all coating processes can be used as coating processes, I'd like to treat printing as a subset of coating (which from prior experience, may upset a few printers). Issues edit

I agree the article has multiple issues. I have made a start improving it GRALISTAIR (talk) 19:24, 29 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

I take issue with the fact it is rated as low importance GRALISTAIR (talk) 19:25, 29 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

I have copied to my sandbox as this will be a huge edit and restructure along with references GRALISTAIR (talk) 14:50, 14 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Now rewritten one section and fully referenced it. In my opinion though, the article still has plenty of room for improvement GRALISTAIR (talk) 16:18, 15 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
