Talk:Unbound (nonprofit organization)

I have edited the page and changed the references so they are not primary. I am hoping this will help to eliminate the flags on the page. Please let me know if there are any other changes that need to be made in order to do so. Thank you. CFCA Kansas (talk) 20:17, 26 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Well, there is still the inherent conflict of interest in you editing the page... 69.181.251.214 (talk) 20:19, 26 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I am in the process of changing my account name. This is a personal account, and I am the only person with access to it. Does my user name have to be changed before the references can be checked? CFCA Kansas (talk) 20:34, 26 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Changing your name does not change the fact that you are associated with the organization - even with a different name, you still have a conflict of interest. . The links are better in that they are no longer primary sources, but they do not qualify as reliable 3rd party sources in my opinion. this raises two issues, of notability, and verifiability if those sites have relationships or arrangements with you, joint work on programs etc. making the article at risk of deletion for notability. If you can find news coverage from clearly impartial sources, that would be best. Gaijin42 (talk) 20:40, 26 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

I wanted to let you know that the references have been updated and the organization’s website is no longer used as a source. Among the sources added, please note the Christian Science Monitor, Charity Navigator and the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance – all of which are reputable and impartial third-party sources.

My understanding, based on the guidelines provided on the Wikipedia website, was that having a connection to the organization would not be an issue as long as the information in the article was presented in a neutral way, with the intention of providing factual information. I based the initial entry on what I saw on Wikipedia pages for similar organizations, which is why I wasn’t aware that the organization’s website would not be considered a credible source. I appreciate your guidance through this process. Please let me know what other suggestions you may have to improve the page.

Thank you for your assistance. AECB810 (talk) 17:17, 8 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

I suggest that the references you have supplied are greatly to the credit of this organization and I agree that your connection to the organization is not a primary issue. If someone finds the article too promotional, even considering the high ratings that Unbound receives, then I suggest they use that tag which can be addressed. I've added several of the many newspaper articles that can be found in Google search, Catholic organizations and others that show their belief in Unbound by raising funds for it.Jzsj (talk) 23:41, 14 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
