Car finance - inappropriate external link edit
I was reading the section about car finance for individual circumstances and came across this article which explains - in depth - how to get car finance if you have bad credit.
I've tried linking to that site as I think it offers valuable information - rather than just the basics of what car finance is. Both times my link has been removed and I was sent this message:
Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Car finance. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia.
I don't understand how this is inappropriate if it furthers the reader's knowledge and understanding of different types of car finance? Thanks Samjhope45 (talk) 10:05, 21 December 2015 (UTC)
- The problem with the link is that the webpage is primarily promotional. The first text that meets the visitor is If you’re looking for car finance, bad credit can sometimes be the thing that gets in your way. With [company name redacted], however, our experts can advise you on the best possible offers – and find a solution to match your needs. When it comes to bad credit car finance, we offer options based on the monthly repayments you can afford to make – not poor credit scores. It goes on in that vein for several paragraphs. In the explanatory text further down on the page, there are also several links and phrasings that are designed to make the reader use the company's services. Have a look at the guidelines for links normally to be avoided - the link in question violates points 4 and 5 in that list. Regards, --bonadea contributions talk 10:12, 21 December 2015 (UTC)
- Concur with Bonadea - in no way is this a reliable source, and it is blatantly promotional. If you need help finding reliable sources, please let me know. This does not appear to even be close. Kuru (talk) 17:45, 22 December 2015 (UTC)
