The Canon (hymnography) article would be more clear if the word ode were not overworked to refer to both the verses of the canon and the Biblical songs on which they are based. The normal usage I am familiar with is to reserve ode for the verses of the canon, and to call the Biblical songs canticles. -- BALawrence 01:31, 17 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
