I have removed the phrase "one of the longest canals in the world" from the lead, because I haven't found a source to verify this assertion. NorthAmerica¹⁰⁰⁰ 09:14, 18 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

It is really just using some simple comparison (i.e. arithmetic) with existing canal lists.
