Background

I think some references are needed to support what's said about the role of Jehovah's Witnesses (I don't contest they played a role, but want citations if we are going to give it so much weight). Also, I do not understand why it says they launched a national campaign in 1949, but submitted a petition in 1947. How could they get 625,510 signatures (5% of total population) if they hadn't yet launched a national campaign? Regardless, the whole paragraph should be altered, to be in chronological order, to a greater extend. --Rob (talk) 07:56, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

effectiveness

to the naysayers: what was so wrong with it? It laid out rights in law. Then Trudeau came along and wrote new legislation that Quebec didn't accept. And His Charter of Right and Freedoms had been a mess for the Supreme Court ever since. It is a bad document. Many Canadians agree with you. This article is full of glowing praise for the Charter, and fails to reflect that it is highly controversial, and has become a very polarizing document, with accusations of it being exploited by activist judges. There are proper Hate Crime laws in the Criminal Code, and the Bill of Rights includes Property Rights, which were left out of the Charter, therefore many regard the Charter as a step back.77Mike77 (talk) 21:30, 20 March 2013 (UTC)

Do territories get its full protection unlike provinces?

The article mentions it effects relative to the provinces, but we're the territories (as creations of the federal government) fully covered by the Bill of Rights, including the property rights? -- sion8 ^{talk page} 07:10, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
