Burmese–Siamese War (1568–70) → Burmese–Siamese War (1568–1569) – There are two reasons for the move. Firstly, I'm starting discussion on behalf of VFF0347, whose edit I have reverted because the punctuation was incorrect (should be a dash, not a hyphen). His reason for changing the year was, "The date range was wrong. I made the correction in the article - See the history. So it was necessary to rename the article." Secondly, WP:DATERANGE was changed a few years back to prefer four-digit years in titles; the article title needs updating. Pinging User:Catlemur, who contributed to the original article and made the original change from 1569 to 1570 in 2015. Paul_012 (talk) 08:19, 9 October 2019 (UTC)

- The page on Bayinnaung and the sources confirm that it it is at least 1569, even if the exact date is unknown. Note copied for reference: "Maha Yazawin Vol. 2 2006: 324) gives 5th waning of Thadingyut 931 ME, without specifying the day of the week. (Yazawin Thit Vol. 2 2012: 157) gives Tuesday, 1st waning of Thadingyut 931 ME (Sunday, 25 September 1569). (Hmannan Vol. 2 2003: 419) says Wednesday, 5th waning of Thadingyut 931 ME, which translates to (Thursday, 29 September 1569)" I have checked to verify this in Maha Yazawin at least and it seems to be 1569. - My thanks to User:EmeraldRange for checking the date. My rationale for making the request was simply that I found the article confusing as written in that the author of the article mentions in the introductory paragraph that the Burmese attacked and defeated the Ayutthaya (Siam) on 2 August 1569, after which Ayutthaya became a vassal state. To me that means that the war was over. The author does go on to mention that the Burmese then went on to occupy Lan Xang. That is an interesting fact, however, it is a separate issue apart of the Burmese-Siamese War. Lan Xang (Laos as we know it today) was a separate kingdom. Bayinnaung, the ruler of the Taungoo Empire at the time (Burma) was fighting a continuing civil war in Burma and expanding Burma by conquesting his neighbors - Siam, Lan Xang, and even Manipur. So what he did after defeating Siam on 2 August 1569 is actually beyond the scope of the article regarding the Burmese-Siamese conflict of 1568-1569. Therefore I argue that this war between Burma and Siam ended in 1569 and that the title of the article should be changed to reflect the facts. Thanks VFF0347 (talk) 16:15, 14 October 2019 (UTC)
