Talk:Buffalo–Niagara Falls Metropolitan Area

Untitled edit

The map on this page indicates an incorrect county. The county highlighted in light blue is Chautauqua county, not Cattaraugus county. Cattaraugus county is the county directly to the east of Chautauqua county.

Thank you, and sorry for the mistake. I have fixed it now.--Pharos 02:13, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

RfC about the 3 separate regional articles edit

I know these are not highly trafficked articles, but we have this article, Niagara Frontier, and Buffalo Niagara Region all representing (practically) the same thing. Western New York is a separate topic, as it is separated from Upstate New York, but why does the Buffalo metro (because this is the focus city) need 3 separate articles to articulate its locale? Having lived here for 20 years and as a general editor, I can say that Western New York is a geographical article, as is Southern Tier, while the other two are political oriented. • Comment What am I supposed to do? Determine if th two should be merged? It's not clear why the RfC is being held. L3X1 My Complaint Desk 16:29, 12 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
I'm primarily trying to see which of the articles should be merged, yes. Buffaboy talk 00:26, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
Ok thanks, I will look at the articles. L3X1 My Complaint Desk 00:54, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Comment to me, it looks like Niagara Frontier isn't a close match since it runs far west to Ohio, but it is a stub of basically conveying the meaning of a War of 1812 term so should be merged into that article. The other two seem like might have a valid geographic vice administrative separation so I'd leave them. Markbassett (talk) 02:18, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
I agree - Niagara Frontier and Buffalo Niagara Region appear to overlap, but don't seem to have quite the same boundaries. PKT(alk) 13:45, 9 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Merge Niagara Frontier into Buffalo Niagara Region. Or Markbassett's comment above. L3X1 My Complaint Desk 16:26, 14 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Relisting I have relisted this as it could do with some more responses. I am notifying related Wikiprojects right now. --Lemongirl942 (talk) 13:18, 9 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Merge the three articles into one (I know this region well) The three topics are not identical but it would be easy to explain the differences in boundaries. This is not a topic of great interest so it does not warrant three articles. Just one. Peter K Burian (talk) 14:00, 9 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Merge Niagara Frontier and Buffalo Niagara Region are currently not viable as even stub articles. They cite no sources. I see no problem with a merge to the most developed article. I do agree that if a merge happens, the new article should list various names for the same and similar regional concepts, and set those names as redirects to the main article. Blue Rasberry (talk) 15:10, 9 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • OK, maybe that is a better idea; merge only Niagara Frontier and Buffalo Niagara Region Peter K Burian (talk) 17:57, 9 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Merge all I'd support merging Niagara Frontier into Buffalo Niagara Region but this article about the metro area could be merged into the Buffalo Niagara Region as well, with content separated into subsections. Chris Troutman (talk) 23:13, 23 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • I would suggest merging these articles so that they can be more easily monitored and integrated. -Darouet (talk) 20:38, 8 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
