Subsidy Controversy

As mentioned in WT/DS222/R 28 January 2002 (02-0153) Original: English CANADA - EXPORT CREDITS AND LOAN GUARANTEES FOR REGIONAL AIRCRAFT; Report of the Panel wto.org,) : " (g) ...that the EDC Corporate Account financing to Comair in July 1996, August 1997 and February 1999 constitutes a prohibited export subsidy..."[13] So WTO ruled that the subsidy occurred in 1996, 1997, 1999, plus the 2002 Air Nostrum ruling : "(f) ...that the EDC Canada Account financing to Air Nostrum constitutes a prohibited export subsidy." So it's not true that the Bombardier aircraft sales illegally subsidized only twice, as currently written in the article. Who is really the 3rd largest?

The articles for Bombardier Aerospace and Embraer both cite recent articles to claim that their subject is the 3rd largest aircraft manufacturer.

Bombardier: Wall Street Journal article from 29th July 2011[1] "The world's third-largest airplane manufacturer"
Embraer: Reuters article from 14 February 2012 [2] "the world's third-largest commercial planemaker,"

Does the fact that the Reuters article is more recent prove Embraer is bigger? Could we find a third source that would be able to set the record straight? Samuell ^{Lift me up} or _{put me down} 06:07, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

These two often swap places between 3rd and 4th largest. I suggest both articles get someone like the following put in their leads "Perennially vying for the spot with rival X, Y is often named the 3rd largest aircraft manufacturer" Fleetham (talk) 19:46, 18 March 2012 (UTC)

This article needs work. e.g. break up History section into two or more sections

The History section is much, much too long. Wonder if someone can help break it up into at least two sections. Perhaps the second section should start with the discussions of the CSeries which is the current aircraft that is the most significant for the company. (Or the first section should just be about the early days of the company?)

I have done other cleaning up, moving sections about old news, and adding updates. However, I am still not sure this long article is very well organized, in general. And the History section is overly chronological in layout: date, what happened then ... another date, what happened then ... another date, what happened then ... and so on.

Also some of it is in present tense (should be past tense). I will work on this aspect. Peter K Burian (talk) 20:00, 9 July 2016 (UTC)

3rd Largest Manufacturer?

I boldly removed the sentence in the opening paragraph which stated that Bombardier and Embraer compete for 3rd largest manufacturer, while implying that this is based on the total number produced. Somebody recently removed a similar claim from Embraer. If anyone can find a regularly updated reliable source, it probably makes sense to just revise the article every year. I'm assuming we're looking for commercial manufacturers by revenue, The lists I've been able to find are for "aerospace manufacturers" which includes military manufacturers like Lockheed Martin. Orphaned references in Bombardier Aerospace

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Bombardier Aerospace's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

"Aviation" or "Aerospace"?

In the wikis of different languages there is a mix of Aviation and Aerospace (see https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q891779). As I understand, none of these are legal entities. "Aviation" is a kind of an internal brand just to name a part of the business. But it's not a separate company, right? We need a clear and up-to-date definition from a reliable source. It's explained in the § Divestment section of the article: On 2 May 2019, Bombardier's aerospace division was renamed Bombardier Aviation following the divestment of the CSeries and Q400 programmes. Anything before that date should be referred to as Bombardier Aerospace, anything after as Bombardier Aviation. Rosbif73 (talk) 06:44, 27 June 2021 (UTC)
