External links modified edit

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Betway. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Some proposed changes edit

Dear Editors, I am looking to bring the Betway pages up to date with new sponsorships and charitable partnerships that have been added this year. I have a declared COI with Betway on my user page as a current employee in the Betway Group and suggest the edits simply out of accuracy. Hopefully you find everything in order but happy to take advice from the community. The below I would request be added to the current entry.

Since the beginning of 2018 Betway has added a growing number of teams and events to its sponsorship stable both in the UK and other countries. In February Betway agreed to support the ESL’s Intel Extreme Masters and ESL One events. Betway also sponsors the CS:GO Pro League, as well as the ESL One Cologne. It further expanded its esports sponsorship by becoming a founding partner of CS:Go legends MiBR (Made in Brazil) in June 2018 which was shortly followed by announcing its support, as a main sponsor, of FACEIT London Major, the first Counter Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) Major event to take place in the United Kingdom. The event takes place in London in September 2018.

In football Betway took its first foray into both the Spanish and Italian leagues with sponsorship deals signed with La Liga side Levante, Leganes and Alaves in Spain, while in Italy it became the training kit sponsor of Seria A giants Roma.

In cricket Betway announced it was to become the official betting partner of Cricket West Indies men and women's sides from the summer of 2018, and in horse racing Betway announced its first major sponsorship in Ireland by supporting three races on Super Saturday at Galway Races.

In line with Gambling Commission guidelines Betway supports GambleAware, as well as BetKnowMore, The Gordon Moody Association and The Young Gamblers Education Trust (YGam). It also supports the nationwide GamStop initiative in the UK

   Unable to review edit request
Your edit request could not be reviewed because the provided references are not formatted correctly. The citation style predominantly used by the Betway article is Citation Style 1. The citation style used in the edit request consists of bare URL's.[a] Any requested edit of yours which may be implemented will need to resemble the current style already in use in the article – in this case, CS1 (See WP:CITEVAR). This would not normally be a problem in a request of a smaller size, whereas larger requests would be expected to have this formatting done before the request is submitted for review. In the extended section below titled Citation Style, I have illustrated two examples: one showing how the edit request was submitted, and another showing how requests should be submitted in the future:

Citation Style
Plain Reference Style Formatting:

The sun is pretty big.<ref>https://www.abcnews.com</ref> The moon is not so big.<ref>http://www.newssource.com</ref> The sun is also quite hot.<ref>http://www.somewebsite.com</ref>

Displays as:

The sun is pretty big.[1] The moon is not so big.[2] The sun is also quite hot.[3]

References

1. https://www.abcnews.com
2. http://www.newssource.com
3. http://www.somewebsite.com

In the example above there are three URL's provided with the claim statements, but these URL's have not been placed using Citation Style 1, which is the style predominantly used by the Betway article. Using this style, the WikiFormatted text would resemble the following:

Citation Style 1 Formatting:

The sun is pretty big,<ref>{{cite book|last1=Sjöblad|first1=Tristan|title=The Sun|url=http://www.thesun.com|publisher=Academic Press|date=2018|page=1}}</ref> but the moon is not so big.<ref>{{cite journal|last1=Duvalier|first1=Gabrielle|title=Size of the Moon|journal=Scientific American|issue=78|volume=51|url=http://www.newssource.com|date=2018|page=46}}</ref> The sun is also quite hot.<ref>{{cite book|last1=Uemura|first1=Shu|title=The Sun's Heat|url=http://www.somewebsite.com|publisher=Academic Press|date=2018|page=2}}</ref>

Displays as:

The sun is pretty big,[1] but the moon is not so big.[2] The sun is also quite hot.[3]

  2. ^ Duvalier, Gabrielle. "Size of the Moon", Scientific American, 51(78):46.
  3. ^ Uemura, Shū. The Sun's Heat. Academic Press, 2018, p. 2.

In the example above the references have been formatted according to Citation Style 1, which shows the author, the source's name, date, etc., all information which is lost when only the links are provided. As I indicated above, since Wikipedia is a volunteer project, larger edit requests such yours are generally expected to have this formatting done before the request is submitted for review.

Kindly rewrite your edit request so that it aligns more with the second example shown in the collapsed section above, and feel free to re-submit that edit request at your earliest convenience. If you have any questions about this formatting please don't hesitate to ask myself or another editor. Regards,  spintendo  18:18, 14 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Notes

  1. ^ The use of bare URLs as references is a style which is acceptable for use in Wikipedia. However, general practice dictates that the style already in use for an article be the one that is subsequently used for all future additions unless changed by editorial consensus. (See WP:CITEVAR.)

Hopefully the below helps - and thank you for the guidance thus far (Middyman (talk) 15:18, 19 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Since the beginning of 2018 Betway has added the following teams and events to its sponsorship stable. In eSports they agreed to support the ESL’s Intel Extreme Masters and ESL One events while announcing the sponsorship of the [[11]] Pro League, as well as the ESL One Cologne [1] It further expanded its eSports sponsorship by becoming a founding partner of CS:Go legends MiBR [2] in June 2018 which was shortly followed by announcing its support, as a main sponsor, of FACEIT London Major, [3] the first Counter Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) Major event to take place in the United Kingdom. In August 2018 Betway took its first steps into the Dota2 market by signing up Invictus Gaming [4] In football they signed partnership agreements with teams from both the Spanish and Italian leagues. La Liga sides [[12]], [5] CD Leganes [6] and Deportivo Alaves [7] received shirt sponsorship , while in Italy Seria A giants A.S. Roma [8]signed a kit sponsorship deal. In cricket they became the official betting partner of Cricket West Indies [9] men and women's sides from the summer of 2018, and in horse racing Betway announced its first major sponsorship in Ireland by supporting three races on Super Saturday at Galway Races [10]. In line with the UK Gambling Commission guidelines Betway supports GambleAware, as well as BetKnowMore, The Gordon Moody Association and The Young Gamblers Education Trust (YGam). It also supports the nationwide GamStop initiative in the UK (Middyman (talk) 15:12, 19 September 2018 (UTC))Reply

Your request does place the URL's within ref tags, but unfortunately, ref tags alone do not make use of the citation style predominantly used by the Betway article, which in this case, is Citation Style 1. That style adds more to the ref tags through the placing of its template, for example, with a website reference:

<ref>{{cite web|last1=Pascal|first1=Tristan|website=Onlinesource|publisher=Onlinesource Publications|date=25 September 2018|access-date=|url=https://www.wikipedia.com}}</ref>

As you can see above, the system places more than just URL's between the ref tags. Other important information is entered, which ends up displaying in the references as:

Pascal, Tristan (25 September 2018). "WebSource". Onlinesource. Onlinesource Publications.

As you can see in the references section under your edit request, the section contains only numbers and nothing else. The goal should be to have the listed sources in the references section looking more like they do in my example. Please refer to this page for further guidance on implementing the system within your edit requests.  Spintendo  16:36, 25 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Does the text above the company logo need to be changed to the company name? edit

In my opinion, the 'gambling game' text above the company logo should be changed to the name of the company. Xboxsponge15 (talk) 22:45, 15 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
