Ordering edit

Is there a reason why the various years have "1st, 2nd, 3rd" in different orders? --shannonr (talk) 15:07, 10 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Consistent Vandalism edit

There is an increasing removal of content by a single person under different aliases, with little to no explanation, other than that the award was started in 1994 (which is incorrect).

It is also made in strongly poor spirit, because:

  1. There is nowhere that makes such claims, neither in sources provided for the article, nor by the AFC itself. The claim was that the AFC started giving the award in 1994, to which everybody agrees on. However, the award itself (Asian Player of the Year), was given much prior to that. AFC simply took it over from the IFFHS in 1994 when it became more important and able. This concludes that the award was not started in 1994.
  2. The same user deletes sources that debunk this claim, by acknowledging that the award was first kick-started by The Asia - Oceania Soccer handbook from Premier Publications, which was written by famous historians and authors Peter Burns and Paul Moon in Oamaru, New Zealand. This all began in 1984, by a points-based process. This is all according to the RSSSF.

The award lasted until 1986, when it was then continued by the IFFHS in 1988 till the AFC's decision to adopt the award and make it part of the official awards given by FIFA. This decision never denied earlier entries, but rather, have made them official an award from the AFC.

All of this is in the sources, and I honestly took the time to give an idea, instead of corrupting the page. I shouldn't explain the background behind a statement when it's taken directly from the source.

In conclusion, please stop deleting sourced content from the page without further explanation. MedStudentIMAMU (talk) 14:33, 7 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
