Query about relegation from Primera D

"On the other hand, clubs directly affiliated have no league below the fifth (Primera D), therefore a club relegated from the Primera D has to spend one year without playing (disaffiliation)." How do they get back in after that one season........? -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 07:48, 11 June 2014 (UTC)

AFA PDF's

I found a couple of Spanish-language PDF's (1 & 2) that explain what they are doing next year and over the the next couple of years. Normally I would post the information on the appropriate talk page, but these PDF's will be relevant to many articles. Unclear matters in table "Current system"

The third Tier or Level 3 is divided in two parts - Primera B Metroplitan with 19 clubs and Torneo Federal A with 39 clubs. And similar with 4th and 5th Tier, where the Torneo Federal have more and more teams, which isn't the case with the "Primera-leagues". And the word "regional" isn't mentioned until at tier "6+" at the Torneo Federal side. I do not question if this is the truth - but could someone please explain 3rd, 4th and 5th Tier (or Level). I use the word "Tier" since that word appears to be the most used in FIFA-football related articles. Never mind that, "level" is equaly understandable. Say River Plate was relegated twice. Would they then play in Primera B Metroplitana or Torneo Federal A - and most importantly Why ? in that league and not the other. And has these different leagues absolutely nothing to do with regions at all ? I urge you to somehow explain these matters , so for instance Europeans football supporters (as well as in other parts of the world) also might understand - please. Hi Boeing720; Regarding your doubts about Argentine football system, I admit that it can be quite difficult to understand in some points (even for people who was born in Argentina) so I'd try to clarify you some concepts. In 1986 there was a complete reestructuring of the system where a new division (Primera B Nacional) was established as the new "second division" (2nd level), and the existing second level (Primera B Metropolitana) became the third level. Since then, the Argentine Football Association has introduced several modification to the tournaments, in some cases creating new divisions.

About the main question you asked (Argentine football league system's current sytem chart), let me explain you the concept: in third level there are two leagues (p.e. Primera B Metropolitana and Torneo Federal A) because the best placed teams of both promote to the second level (Primera B Nacional). This is the reason because both leagues are considered "third level divisions". The difference between those leagues is where teams participating are from: clubs from Buenos Aires (main district and suburban areas) take part in Primera B Metro while clubs outside Buenos Aires and the rest of Argentina participate in the Federal A. Likewise, the teams that play in "Federal A" are clubs from regional leagues (in Argentina, "regional leagues" are leagues established outside Buenos Aires, where teams from different Partidos (not affiliated to the main Association) play their championships.

For the relegation system, it has a similar procedure. The worst placed teams in Primera B Nacional can be relegated to one or another division, Primera B Metropolitana (if the club is from Buenos Aires) or Torneo Federal A (if it came from a regional league).

About River Plate: the club was relegated only once, in the 2010–11 Argentine Primera División season to Primera B Nacional, the current second division (since 1986, as I mentioned before). If there is an article that states RP was relegated twice, it's a mistake.

Fixing wrong data

About the last edits on the main table (year by year), some wrong data (mostly brought from the Spanish wiki) has been corrected. Issues are listed below:

1. . Primera B Metropolitana was the 2nd level from 1899-1910, and 1927-1985. During 1911-26, it became the 3rd. tier while Intermedia was the 2nd. level
2. . The "División Intermedia" was the second level (1911–26). The tournament was then the 3rd division from 1927 until it was disestablished in 1932.
3. . There are no records of a "Primera División Sección B" as a "2nd" level during the period indicated (1927-32). Moreover, that division is never mentioned on AFA official list of champions or the RSSSF (see 1927 table). During that time, Primera B Metro was the 2nd level so Intermedia had been abolished.
