The word Ansar and it’s meaning in English edit

I’ve made a minor edit but I’d still like to add why for transparency:

Ansar comes from the word Nasr, which means victory. Ansar are they who bring victory. In this case, the most literal translation for “Ansar Muhammad” is, “They who (help) bring victory to Muhammad.” Therefore it isn’t justice enough to just put “The helpers” as the only English translation, but rather they were more than just people who volunteered their support.

The Ansar were critical as they made up almost the entirety of his armies in early defensive battles and provided his believers safe haven when they had nowhere else to turn. Thus the name Ansar wasn’t simply given to them for their support, but for their critical and direct contributions to his (Muhammad peace be upon him)’s victories.
