Count of ASQDE members edit

I used the online directory to count up those members who have their e-mail contact info displayed. The figure of 100 members derived from this is correct as far as the online listing is concerned but, as my footnote in the article explains, it is not the actual number of members in the society. A recent copy of the ASQDE directory would provide the most accurate and up-to-date count of members. Unfortunately, I don't have a copy available. If anyone does, please update the figure as appropriate. — RB Ostrum. 00:11, 3 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • I'm sorry, but this would appear to fall under WP:OR. Unless you have a direct source for the number of members (and given that this is not something controversial, that could be the organization's own website) this remark will need to be removed from the article. --Crusio (talk) 05:47, 3 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
    • Fair enough. Unfortunately, the website doesn't appear to provide this figure anywhere. I wanted to check the actual number and that was the only way I had to do it. That's why I suggested someone use some authoritative document to give us the actual number. I have no problem leaving the figure out entirely until a good reference is found. — RB Ostrum. 15:00, 3 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

ASDQE wikipage — part of WikiProject US? edit

Any page added in WikiProject US should have a US orientation or focus. I don't think the ASQDE fits very well. Regular membership in the ASQDE is open to any qualified FDE from the USA or from Canada, and corresponding membership is available to a qualified FDE from any other country in the world. Perhaps most important, the last time I checked Canada was still independent of the US so putting the ASQDE into this project doesn't seem quite right.

At the same time, I don't dispute the US-centricity of this wikipage (and the ASQDE in general). However, attracting more US-based editors to the page won't lessen the centricity of the info; it can only make it worse.

FWIW, I don't know if there is a 'better' project for this page. But I don't think it should be under the US project. Any comments? — RB Ostrum. 19:47, 13 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
