Contested deletion

This page should not be speedily deleted because the reason for the deletion no longer applies (the article was formerly deleted because Carson had not done anything yet) hence the nomination for speedy deletion under WP:G4 does not hold. Evidence:

• the article now reflects Carson's entrepreneurial endeavours, book, and motivational speaking
• the current article easily meets GNG
• article has added several sources that didn't exist at the time of the previous AFD discussion which shows sustained media coverage for over 2 years

Contested deletion

(For re-nomination for speedy deletion due to WP:G11.) This page is not unambiguously promotional because it does not list any achievements of Carson's that are unsourced, it does not advertise for any product/service, and it has no external links except for the official website in the infobox (so cannot be external link spamming). Per WP:WEIGHT, "If a viewpoint is in the majority, then it should be easy to substantiate it with reference to commonly accepted reference texts". Everything is cited. The sources back up all claims made in the article.
Also, the article was not intended to be promotional. I have no connection to Carson and merely made the article because I had seen a plethora of articles about her (ie. more than enough to meet WP:GNG). To the best of my human ability, the article is written with NPOV.
Furthermore, even if the article was written in a promotional tone, the arguments I have just made show that the article is not so overly promotional that it could not be fixed. And according to WP:G11, "If a subject is notable and the content could plausibly be replaced with text written from a neutral point of view, this is preferable to deletion." author?

I'm not sure "author" is an appropriate title, especially in the lead sentence. This book was self-published. The also article still reads like a resume, with a very promotional tone.

Awards needn't be individually notable to be mentioned in a biography. As long as they're verifiable, they should remain. pburka (talk) 16:29, 5 August 2020 (UTC)

I've done a lot more than this, and the page about me was deleted.

Sounds like this person is very good a promoting themselves. I'm not saying she is not a good person. I wish her well in her efforts to be an astronaut. But, all of the objections to the article which was created about me seem to apply here. I had actually done something, rather than just hoping to do something. Youngest to graduate from space camp

The following claim has been removed from the career section:

At age 16, Carson became the youngest person to complete the space camp program run by the Alabama Space Science Exhibit Commission

The supplied reference describes the claim as

At 16 years old, Carson became the youngest person to have ever graduated from the Advanced Space Academy

A cursory Google News search brings up numerous other 16 year olds who have attended the five day camp, not surprising since the "Advanced" is simply the section of the camp for 15-18 year olds per the camp's page on the US Space and Rocket Center

Influencer

I'm not a Wikipedian, but I would like to share my thoughts. This article focuses on everything she is not and I experience it as a very negative article. It almost sounds like she is misleading people on purpose. When I look at her social media channels, I don't see that at all. Maybe the article becomes more objective if it is focused on what she is. I added "influencer" because that's probably the most objective way to describe her. An influencer who wants to become an astronaut and already did a lot of unofficial astronaut training to reach her goal. --2600:6C56:4100:7174:525:32BD:FCC1:B8D2 (talk) 22:47, 23 October 2022 (UTC)

I'm a bit surprised you find the tone negative. There's one paragraph which clarifies that she's not officially connected to NASA, and that's presented in a neutral tone. Other than that I think the article is quite positive, focusing on her achievements. Regarding her role as an influencer, are there any reliable sources (e.g. news stories or magazine articles) you can point to that describe her using that term? pburka (talk) 00:18, 24 October 2022 (UTC)

Promotional tone

@Pburka: You reverted my tone tag? I think its quite clear that this article needs to be cleaned up for tone concerns. There are multiple examples of this, see:

• who has attended numerous space camps
• She has been profiled by a variety of news outlets, public interest publications, and interview shows
• the only daughter of a single father, Bert Carson
• At 16, and At 18,
• She was then invited to be a panelist at the MER (Mars Exploration Rover) 10 Panel
• highlighting women’s participation and development in the school's community
