Dates of All-Irelands edit

Is it really neccessary to put the exact dates of the All-Ireland Finals in the table? Its superfluous as long as we have the years - and all the gaps look bad. Also, that table doesn't acknowledge any replayed finals. Just putting an (r) beside each replay, and then a footnote would suffice wouldn't it? I would suggest in fact, that the table is too long?--Macca7174 23:52, 26 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Just the month and the day are needed , replays should be added , you can use div to split the length of the table see Cork Senior Hurling Championship for usage (Gnevin 12:30, 29 November 2006 (UTC))Reply
In actual fact, years aresometimes necesary, as some finals in the early years were played one or even two years after the for which that championship was played. See how the 1904 and 1905 finals were played within 15 days of each other in 1906! DellusMaximus 00:39, 18 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

All-Ireland 1925 edit

I looked up the GAA website's roll of honour, [1]. They list 1925's final as: 1925 Croke Park Galway 3-2 Cavan 1-2 According to this bit of evidence [2], Kerry won their semi-final against Cavan and were then ejected. (perhaps this source is wrong though).

Based on this I'm going to edit the page to be: 1925 Croke Park Galway 3-2 Cavan 1-2--Gael-wh (talk) 13:39, 12 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Kilkenny edit

Why does Kilkenny not participate? 82.83.133.227 (talk) 23:47, 21 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Not sure of the official reason but it is widely regarded to be that football is to weak in the county due to the dominance and popularity of hurling. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.42.67.49 (talk) 18:23, 21 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Question edit

Per the name of the event, in Ireland do people call this sport Gaelic football or just "football"? Doc Quintana (talk) 19:48, 23 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

RTÉ refers to it as "football". The Irish Examiner refers to it as "football". Hogan Stand refers to it as "football". --86.40.207.198 (talk) 06:09, 17 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Sponsors edit

Is there a reason the sponsors are listed? This isn't done for other sports. Irish goat (talk) 10:12, 24 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Flags edit

There's an obsession across a number of sports with flags and it has crept into GAA articles now. This is contrary to the Manual of Style. The WP:MOSFLAG says that this is not appropriate, and while I can understand having the county colours in the colour section of the table of teams, it should be kept to a bare minimum outside that and should certainly not be in the infobox. I'll also be removing the Irish, English and American flags as they are contrary to MOS and totally unnecessary. Scewmadden (talk) 20:36, 8 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Regions? edit

In the info box it says 2 regions (Ireland and England), but in the team list there is no English side (London), but there is one from New York. I'm assuming that due to the withdrawal of various sides due to Covid that the info has been mixed somewhere? I'm going to [WP:Bold] change it. 194.28.127.53 (talk) 01:31, 13 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

List of teams edit
