What is the source for the 1839 birth year? In Jill Jones "Conquering Gotham" (2007), Cassatt is described as born on 8 Dec 1838 (page 241). --Thogo(Talk) 18:56, 30 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
The link in the References section (cached at Google), a transcript of the Altoona Tribune from January 15, 1916, lists 1839. It's clear that either this reference or the reference you list has a typo. Without further evidence from other reliable sources, I'm not necessarily inclined toward either reference. My reference says (citation) "It was his sixty-eighth birthday ..." (describing 8 December 1906) (p. 241) But it could well be a mistake (there is another one in the very same line where 8 Dec 1906 is labelled Friday - but it was a Saturday actually). --Thogo(Talk) 19:16, 30 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
