International Airport

Don't deny it. ALB is an international airport (NOT a "regional facility"), even if there are only a few international flights. (Besides, there are daily flights to Las Vegas and Orlando, which are certainly not "regional".) Bayerischermann 20:25, 11 October 2005 (UTC)

Why no mentioning of the fact that ALB is the oldest existing municipal airport in the US? No real history section about the building of ALB at the Shaker community and how the Shakers even helped by loaning their tractors and such. No mention of the history of how the airport was originally located on the site of the current Port of Albany facility and was originially named after Teddy Roosevelt's son, or of the famous people who have flown into it during the begining of the era of flight. Im impressed by the facts and figures but i personally love history and think more of the things that should make us proud of our airport should be in here, it's a much more important airport in history than the facts of its flight schedule would lead one to believe.24.182.142.254 (talk) 02:13, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

As Apr1fool suggested I put in the information about the beginnings of the airport in a new history section. If no one minds I would like to clean up the recent history section that is currently in a list form (and therefore not really conforming to the guidelines) and make it into a prose form. All of the information I put in the section comes from the airport's official website, I cited it at the end of the history section instead of continually citing the same source for every fact in that section. I hope to find more sources and therefore add more citations to that section. Castle Island (New York) article has some information on the early airport before its move to the current location.Camelbinky (talk) 01:05, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

2009 Presidential Visit

Who cares? Leave it to the bored in the Capital District to add an entry for a morning visit by the president. Is it newsworthy? No, it's not. Maybe the fact that the President usually travels to Air Force bases instead of commercial airports. Also, the "bored Capital District" is producing many of the components of the computer that you commented with, so I wouldn't be so quick to make rude comments. I know that this discussion is 5 years stale, and I have no opinion either way on whether the presidential visit belongs in this article (and I really have no connection to this at all), but an IP user added it to the Lead yesterday. The addition had misspellings and grammar issues and no citation. I fixed the grammar and added a CN tag, but really felt like the whole thing didn't belong in the lead and that the lead in general is a mess. Probably should have a discussion here about whether than entire paragraph belongs in the lead or whether the whole lead needs to be rewritten. Found this old discussion and thought I'd raise awareness so those working on this article can decide if it belongs. Kenmelken (talk) 18:43, 16 May 2018 (UTC)

General and military aviation?

Is this worth mentioning? AIA has faciliteis for private and business planes, as well as an Army National Guard UH-60 helicopter unit. List of flight destinations

ALB really one of only four airports with functioning dual jet bridges?

I am quoting a passage from the article below:

"Albany International Airport is one of only 4 airports in the world using dual jet bridges (one bridge for the back, one for the front). However, only Southwest Airlines uses them.[citation needed]"

Grammar in intro

The second part of the sentence "It was built on the site of the Shaker settlement about 6 miles (9.7 km) north of Albany and stretching north to the hamlet of Verdoy." seems gramatically incorrect.
