American Field Service edit

I guess it makes sense to seperat the historical AFS - American Field Service article from the AFS Intercultural Pograms Article. Or what do you think? Thomas Österheld (talk) 13:47, 7 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Returnees edit

Should there be a page with stories of returnee AFS students? With tips and things for future students? Lovingnews1989 10:26, 17 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

great idea, also a section for returnees to update packing list and advice for their specific country and program! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.191.33.137 (talk) 23:48, 10 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
NO, this is not a good idea: Wikepedia is not a social media site. 24.246.23.7 (talk) 19:29, 18 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Too Long tag edit

There is literally only one sentence about activities during WW2, but huge lists of references, former exchange student and external links.

1) It's nice to have much source material to reference but with all those references one would think the ww2 section could be expanded. You can't really have too many (reliable) sources, but the bibliography is very long compared to the length of the the article and there are more references in the bibliography than there are inline citations.

2) The list of 'notable people' who went on exchanges or were involved is,imo, too long. I removed any entries that didn't have a wikipedia page of their own but that wasn't much. If consensus is that these list have some encyclopedic value they could be moved to their own article (e.g. List of former AFS ppl). Their participation in AFS can also be noted on their own bio articles so if the lists are removed the information wouldn't be lost, just relocated.

3) The list of links is so long because there's a link for each regional variation of the organization's website, I didn't count them but probably ~50 or more. In my opinion, this detracts from the encyclopedic intention of the article and makes the article seem like half of it is a website directory. Same if the Google article included a links to all their 100s of domains, although Google happens to be a very special case and there is a special article listing all domains registered to google.
