Talk:A. Alfred Taubman

Since there's a separate article on Taubman Centers, wouldn't it make more sense to list the Taubman malls there, rather than here?

But since the list is here... I revised it with the complete list from the Taubman website (and removed the note that described it as "partial"). I used the "official" names as much as I could, but I did not change those that were links to other Wikipedia articles. HMishkoff 02:24, 25 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Mall List: As I said last year (above), the mall list seems out of place in this article, as it's about Mr. Taubman, not Taubman Centers. I just noticed that the Taubman Centers article now also includes a list of malls, and I see no reason for the duplication, so... I plan to remove the list from this article, let me know if anyone has an objection to that. HMishkoff 14:24, 23 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'll add a {{Mergeto}} tag to the section to elicit wider discussion, if any. —Elipongo (Talk|contribs) 20:59, 23 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

OK, I've gone ahead and removed the Mall info from this article, and I've revised the Mall list on the Taubman Centers article so that it matches the list on the official Taubman website. HMishkoff 03:26, 1 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Article tone & content edit

The article struck me as just a bit, I don't know, gushy and I've made a few tweaks to it to make it a bit more neutral and encyclopedic. I'll probably make a few more in the next couple of days. (Really the article seems quite sound; it's just a few things like adjectives and formatting that makes mundane quotes sound more like pronouncement from On High.) If anyone would like to discuss the edits, here's the place! JohnInDC (talk) 00:05, 24 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

A lot of the text seems to be lifted almost (but not quite) verbatim from the quoted sources and I think to avoid copyvio issues, they need to be paraphrased a bit more loosely. I'll work on that too and invite any other editors to take their own crack at it. JohnInDC (talk) 00:48, 24 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
The entire price fixing section is so biased it's mind boggling. two-thirds of it is essentially "pro criminal" , and the criminal in this case is taubman. none of the negative stuff is included such as the judge outright calling him an unremorseful liar for his scheming, but instead seizes on the the **alleged** claim that the one head honcho who testified was doing so in hopes to reduce her sentence, yet there is no link to a source confirming any kind of plea-deal it's just a bunch of allegations of jorunalists. No mntion of taubman getting a lighter sentence than deserved to "health concerns".This guy must have donated a lot of cash to leftwingers to get such bogus wikipedia article..68.117.94.3 (talk) 09:38, 18 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
"Leftwingers"? I don't get it. But if there's something you don't like about the article, why don't you edit it instead of just bitching about it? HMishkoff (talk) 23:52, 18 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Associated Press and NBC News made a mistake about birthday in article edit

Check out this article which said Taubman was born in 1942. Pretty sure correct birth year is 1924. Maybe they transposed the two numbers?--Tomwsulcer (talk) 12:09, 18 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

POV edit

  • The article is to a large part based on his own book and one CBS article that mostly consists of quotes from him, objective sources that are not based on things he said or wrote are rare for the main claims.
  • There is the unsourced claim "He pioneered the modern shopping mall concept" in the introduction. What exactly, when and at what mall did he actually pioneer?

The article is now a bit more neutral, but still lacks independent third-party sources. Woodward & Lothrop and Wanamaker's contain interesting but unsourced stories of these companies filing for bankruptcy due to their owner Taubman being in financial difficulties in the 1990s - such not positive events in his life are completely missing in the article that is mostly based on biased sources.
