Complete list of nominees edit

Drat! I was looking for a list of the nominees for Best Song. -ErinHowarth (talk) 23:28, 18 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

The nominees for Best Song were not announced until a few weeks after all the other nominations were announced. See [1] and [2]. Mathew5000 (talk) 10:41, 9 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Charlie or Charles? edit

Chaplin was usually credited as Charles Chaplin for work other than acting. I believe he would have been credited as Charles Chaplin for the Limelight score. Is it possible to confirm that the Academy actually used Charlie in the nomination? 68.146.52.234 (talk) 04:26, 20 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

I double-checked. The official Academy Awards web-site lists Chaplin as "Charles". Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 19:34, 17 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Best Original Dramatic Score edit

The table of winners and nominees should reflect the fact that there was a sixth nomination for Best Original Dramatic Score. It was for Nino Rota. However, that nomination was later rescinded or revoked by the Academy. The official Academy web-site states as follows:

[NOTE: THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL NOMINATION. The Godfather score, composed by Nino Rota, was originally announced as one of the five official nominees. It was later pointed out that portions of the score and the main theme were composed by Rota for his score to the 1958 Italian film, Fortunella. The Music Branch was given this information and re-balloted to determine the fifth nomination. The list of six films they were to choose from were the remaining five of the top ten preliminary listings, plus The Godfather score. The results of the re-balloting was that the fifth nomination became Sleuth, composed by John Addison.].

Chaplin's nomination edit

It is a little "suspicious" that Chaplin got the Limelight nomination the year after his honorary Oscar since Limelight was finally shown in L.A. Is it known if the L.A. screenings were a direct result of renewed interest in Chaplin after he got the honorary award? And is this a scenario that could still happen, or has this loophole been closed so only recent films can be nominated? 23skidoo (talk) 13:52, 11 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

That loophole's long been closed. Nowadays, films that premiere outside of L.A. have until the following year to premiere there to be nominated for any ceremony. CRBoyer 18:42, 19 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
