The source (Dyer's Compendium) seems to have an incorrect sum of 269 casualties, while the numbers given add up to 275. Scromett 17:52, 3 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
The Iowa Adjutant General's report gives:
Killed 44
Died of wounds 28
Died of disease 207
Giving a total mortality of 279!!!!
I've gone for Dyer's simply because it is likely to be consistent in its methodology between states and because it breaks down casualties between officers and enlisted. I reluctant to change the numbers given to avoid original research, so I'm happy with the (275?) until we can get better numbers.Scromett 17:58, 3 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
