Accuracy of works added edit

@Jonastav89, I noticed that you added Prometheus (Orozco) to the list here. That work is already considered to be in the public domain because it was published without a copyright notice. This same situation may also apply to some other works you added. The Maltese Falcon was first serialized in Black Mask from September 1929 on; shouldn't it become public domain in the US in 2025, at least that version of it? Drmab (talk) 17:15, 2 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Scarface edit

I found a renewal for the 1932 film, and I found this 1960 notice for a new edition published by his family. But when searching 1957-1959 I couldn't come across a renewal for the original 1930 book. I looked in books, periodicals, and works of art. I also consulted the Virtual Card Catalog, and I even found the 1930 book's original notice. The author of the novel died in 1930 as well, so his family likely didn't know to renew it. And that would explain the sudden registration of a new edition in 1959/1960.

Personally I believe that it seems to be a case of a novel that has long been public domain due to lack of renewal. SDudley (talk) 21:02, 5 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
