Should we include military coups? edit

Since wars are obviously included, I feel it is best if we include military coups (and coup attempts) here as well. For the 2020s, these would be the 2020 Malian coup d'état and the ongoing 2021 Myanmar coup d'état attempt. Civilian coups would be excluded of course, unless the military played a substantial role. RBolton123, I think military coups can go under 'Conflicts' if there are casualties. Otherwise, you can consider adding them to the national sections (but this should focus on the military, rather than political, aspects. So it may suffice to say that the Malian military has ruled the country since 2020, rather than explaining the events and their causes.). notes on possible new article sections and structure edit

Hi all. I think we will need one new section, or maybe a few , to denote conflicts that are potentially of world importance; or alternately, those which involve interests of major powers, multiple blocs, multiple countries, etc.

the need for and lack of such a section seems self-evident to me. for example, where would we put the current Russian buildup near Ukraine, which is of concern to all major powers, and is highly relevant to global security and European security?

I do understand that such an article actually does have a strong regional focus; however I note that there is still no actual place to put issues of world significance, such as cyber-warfare, the arctic, freedom of the sea. I propose such sections, I will proceed under WP:BOLD and will initiate such sections. Anyone is free to discuss further here on this talk page. thanks! ---Sm8900 (talk) 🌍 17:33, 16 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Updates needed edit

Just making a note that the Syrian war isn’t mentioned and nor is the current conflagration in Israel/Palestine. BobFromBrockley (talk) 05:05, 15 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
