Listing based on coefficient order edit

I think the teams should be listed on the coefficient order. It has always been the case in the articles of the previous editions and, since the seedings are only based on the coefficients, it makes more sense and the readers can easily see what teams were considered the strongest or weakest in the subgroups. Flags edit

Golly, I don't think I've ever seen so many flagicons on one article. Looks like carnival or a street full of gas stations. Is it all really necessary or is it something that is appropriate for sports articles? Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 02:24, 30 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

User:Drmies has suggested on User talk:Dennis Brown for it to be removed. As I do not know anything about flags, I would rather another more experienced user in this area deal with it. Also, previous seasons' articles have been filled with flags as well so it appears that the majority of editors who frequent these kind of pages do not mind those flags. 24.212.195.135 (talk) 02:50, 30 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

FYI, I noticed that on MOS, under Appropriate use, it is commonly used for sports team. Also, under Avoid flag icons in infoboxes, examples of acceptable exceptions include sports competitions such as this. 24.212.195.135 (talk) 02:59, 30 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • No, MOS:FLAG doesn't say it's commonly used for sports teams. Only in occasions of real national representation is the use of flags OK, and there simply is no national representation here. What other articles have isn't really of importance here, nor what a majority thinks: the MOS should be adhered to. Kudpung, the Tour de France just started--watch those editors stick their little flags all over the place, like candy. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 03:35, 30 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Disputed edit edit

  • My take on this is twofold:
  • With regards to the stadium: Personally, I think we should leave it blank until the match has been played, and the official results are accessible - I note that there are a couple of referees missing from the list, so it's not like this is an unprecedented idea. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 14:04, 30 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • With regards to the referee's name: User:Bollfooot's iteration of the surname seems more likely, as the referee is Romanian; however, the initial first and middle names of the referee seem more likely, for the same reason. Thus, I propose we list his name as "Constantin Sevastian Colţescu" as it seems the most likely.
  • As stated in the edit summary, the referee name that I took from was from FIFA.com. Surely FIFA.com will take precedence over any other source? As uefa.com is the official website for this competition, it takes precedence with regards to the venue. 24.212.195.135 (talk) 19:14, 30 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Yes and no. Official sources are not infallible, and let's not forget that FIFA often Anglicise names - look at the stadium name they list. Also, in theory, the club's official website is as reliable a source as the UEFA one - so if there's a conflict there, then we should probably leave the information out until we know 100% for sure that it's right - so until after the match. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 19:22, 30 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Fifa.com use v instead of b. As for whether there is an accent under the t, it is trivial for me, so if it wants to be added, then it is ok. It doesn't matter to me either way. 24.212.195.135 (talk) 19:30, 30 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • I don't have any issues with the accent. The problem I have with Bollfooot is that he is changing the v to b. 24.212.195.135 (talk) 19:35, 30 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Opinion: Arena Națională was the reserve. Astra will play on own stadium this round. I have no idea how many rounds are they allowed to play there. Because the arena is newly developed and still small. It is logical they will, because some others are allowed with smaller stadiums and even less facilities. The two official websites of the two clubs confirmed. And our media. About the referee, I am Romanian. He is not. Sebastian is his name (like Sebastien in French Canadian), not Sevastian. Google it. Did you do that, IP? Before reverting it 100 times? I hope you are not doing it on purpose. Please use Sebastian Colțescu, this is how is he known here. Tons of articles about him. He is even on the famous social networking service. With B of course. Bollfooot (talk) 22:24, 30 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Please provide an English translation, as this is enwiki - not all of us speak what I'm assuming is French. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 07:48, 1 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Qed237 input: I dont know about the stadium, but after using google and looking att the fifa page i think it should be a b and not a v. UEFA.com uses b and in this case i trust UEFA more then FIFA. Everywhere else outside of FIFA I se Sebastian with a b. Qed237 (talk) 14:21, 1 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Edit Request in 2 September 2013 edit

So I've noticed under the list of assists at the bottom that Kuban Krasnodar haw a Polish flag in spite of being Russian and Petrolul have a Turkish flag in spite of being Romanian. I would request that those mistakes where fixed and that someone would overlook the flags to see if they all represented the right nationality. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.183.131.33 (talk) 13:26, 2 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Edit request on 1 July 2013 edit

Please change the order between home and away team for match 1 in second qualifying round from "Team 1: Sparta Praha, Team 2: Häcken" to "Team 1: Häcken, Team 2: Sparta Praha". This a change from the original draw due to Womens World Cup in Sweden so Häcken has no stadium for the first leg. It is the same change as some matches in the first qualifying round, which has benn switched with a note. http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/season=2014/matches/round=2000466/index.html

Reference 8 Botev Plovdiv edit

Hi

I have some thoughts about reference number 8, regarding Botev Plovdiv using the UEFA coefficient from Sofia. In the reference list there is no reference and more a note? Should we change it to a note even though it is used in two places?

I feel like it is a note at the moment, since there are no link to a webpage in the reference-list.

Any thoughts? Qed237 (talk) 00:33, 6 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Edit Request: Zürich edit

Zürich are still in white in the Team section, when they have been eliminated. 188.221.79.22 (talk) 09:27, 9 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for pointing that out. I have now fixed it. QED237 (talk) 12:34, 9 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
