Noteworthy Lib Dem MPs who have declined to stand? edit

Is it worth adding a section, or at least a mention that Jo Swinson isn't standing...? 195.195.166.57 (talk) 18:09, 28 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Define what a "noteworthy" Lib Dem is  Francium12  20:54, 28 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
Well-known. The IP editor is referring to the similar section at Labour Party (UK) leadership election, 2010, which was so named because an editor did not like "Declined" under candidates, and it was the least worst alternative option. The meat of the IP's question is whether we should include a section on people who were mentioned as likely candidates, but who chose not to run. -Rrius (talk) 21:27, 28 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

It's semi-academic for this contest now but "declined to run" lists are used on the articles for recent Conservative and Labour elections; this is because in the run-up to most of them there was a lot of media speculation (and some explorative bids that never made it to the ballot paper) with prominent MPs getting media write-ups. This is different from the Lib Dem deputy leadership where the election has caught a lot of people by surprise and the smaller size & lower profile of the party means more random lists of possibles appear and more unlikely MPs find themselves being asked in the media.
