I don't profess to be ready to edit this, but this article seems to be a mish-mash of the last olympics and the winter olympics. Totally inaccurate!!

Indoor or outdoor ?

The Olympic plans of all 2014 bid cities have been outlined by all candidates and NONE include an indoor opening ceremony !

Sochi - Sochi Stadium
Salzburg - temporary stadium over the Salzach river
Jaca - La Romaneda Stadium
PyeongChang - Ski Jumping Venue at Alpensia Resort
Sofia - Vassil Levski National Stadium
Borjomi - Ceremony Plaza, situated in the natural amphitheatre in the centre of Bakuriani (suburb of Borjomi)

I didn't know at first which of the cities which planned to host the 2014 Winter Olympics planned to have their opening ceremonies indoors. That's why I said that the opening ceremonies for the 2006 Winter Olympics would be the last ones for a Winter Olympics to be held outdoors until at least the 2014 Winter Olympics. The questionnaires answers have been submitted and this is fine enough for me. There is no plan in any bid for an indoor facility and I don't see why anyone would want to increase by a few hundreds of millions the construction cost of the Olympics venues for the sake of being indoors during two four-hour ceremonies. Reading of the Olympic Oath

The article says that "Giorgio Rocca read the Olympic Oath on behalf of all the athletes" and then goes on to say that "Fabio Bianchetti from the International Skating Union read the oath on behalf of all athletes".
Can we have some clarification here? Did they read two different oaths or did the Olympic committee feel that they need two readers of the same thing?

Reorganisation!

This article needs serious rework to better organise into sections chronologically for the spectacles in the ceremonies! I have the entire ceremony taped from the CBC's encore presentation of the live broadcast. So most of my edits will be based on the commentaries on the CBC footage. On the CBC footage they showed the entire length of the parade of nations without commercial break. They also named all the flag bearers. Security measures

Please note that the 2002 Winter Olympics were the first Olympics since September 11, 2001. All Olympics games since then have seen very heavy security because of concerns of terrorism. I don't know what they were thinking either. I'm sure copyright is part of the reason and that the IOC probably don't want songs with lewd and controversial content either. I do have a taped copy of the ceremonies and the CBC broadcasted the parade of Nations without commercial breaks. It wasn't the case of different song for each country though. I don't think this information is that notable of information for this article though. Well the original intention is to have a figure for each country on the number of non-athletes in the nation's contingent. Not sure where that information can be found collectively. I've seen the number of Canadian supporting staff and official somewhere. This number would help to explain why we are seeing more people marching than the number of athletes in the parade. This is especially obvious when there is only one athlete accompanied by several officials and staff in a contingent. --Kvasir 07:09, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

Parade of Athletes Entering Per Italian Language
