Talk:2006 Dalit protests in Maharashtra

Background edit

This section of the article fails to bring out the background of the protests. Although the incidents triggering the protests were the desecration of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar's statue and the khairlanji massacre that saw brutal killings of four members of a dalit family, the underlying reasons that marginalization of dalits from the society and their exclusion from the economic growth led to the development of events seems totally missed out in the section even though it has been brought out by the references mentioned in this article.

This article more seems to be a commentary of what Raj Thakeray said and what his opinion is about the subject. Portraying facts instead of what some political leader said should be more suitable. The article takes more interest in destruction if property rather that the social and political implications of the protests.

These and other points need to be discussed and the article needs to be cleaned up to neutralize the POV's. (Flewovercuckoo 19:00, 31 March 2007 (UTC))Reply
