Adam, no doubt some POV krept in, and the article can be improved, but I do suggest you read the sources cited available on the internet. In particular I used the article by Phillip Deery in Labour History No 68, as referenced.--Takver 28 June 2005 06:41 (UTC)

The problem with this is that the coal strike has become a centre-piece of the Leftwing Australian History 101, as taught in virtually every Australian university history course in the country (I think John Hirst at LaTrobe is an exception), and of which virtually everyone who has written about the strike is an adherent. Whether the event is a "centre-piece of the Leftwing Australian History 101" is not the point, although points to the need for a fully referenced factual account, with perhaps a balanced view on how the event is interpreted. The Deery article I used as my primary source, was peer reviewed for publication in Labour History (1995), and I also relied upon Deery's article on Communism, Security and the Cold War, Journal of Australian Studies no 55, St Lucia, UQP, 1997. These are both fully cited sources from a respected academic historian. The article would be improved by more background detail on economic and political conditions of the time. --Takver 29 June 2005 01:47 (UTC)
