Sid Sriram (born 19 May 1990) is an Indian music producer, playback singer, and song writer of Indian Tamil origin. He is a R&B songwriter, singer and performer,[1][2] and works in the Tamil, Telugu film industries.[3] He regularly collaborates with Bharata Natyam dancer, Pallavi Sriram, his sister, and music director A. R. Rahman.[4]

Early lifeEdit

Sriram was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. His parents moved with him to California when he was a year old, and he grew up in Fremont. His musical skills were nurtured by his mother, Latha Sriram, a Carnatic music teacher in the San Francisco Bay Area.[5] He simultaneously started picking up R&B. After graduating from Mission San Jose High School in 2008, he joined the Berklee College of Music and graduated in Music Production and Engineering.[6] Since his graduation, he has been regularly visiting India and giving Carnatic concerts, including as a part of the December Music season - Marghazhi Utsavam.[7]

CareerEdit

He gained popularity in India with the song "Adiye" sung for the soundtrack of Kadal (2013) composed by A. R. Rahman.[8] He won the Filmfare Award for Best Playback Singer for his rendition of "Ennodu Nee Irunthaal" for the soundtrack of I (2015).[9]

"Thalli Pogathey" in "Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada", "Maru Vaarthai Pesathe" in "Enai Noki Paayum Thota","Undiporaadhey" in "Husharu"[10], "Adiga Adiga" in "Ninnu Kori" and "Inkem Inkem Inkem Kaavaale" in "Geetha Govindam" , "High On Love" in "Pyaar Prema Kaadhal" and "Maate Vinadhuga" in "Taxiwaala" have been notable songs.[11][12]
