Sant Jordi Awards

  (Redirected from Sant Jordi Award)

The Sant Jordi Awards (Catalan: Premis Sant Jordi de Cinematografia) are film prizes awarded annually in Barcelona by the Catalan branch of the Spanish radio network Radio Nacional de España.[1] They were established in 1957 to encourage Catalan cinema at a time when Catalan language films were banned by the Spanish government under Francisco Franco. They were subsequently extended to all Spanish films.[citation needed]
