As a development policy since 2013, the Izumi Field line area (Futamatagawa-Yume-Oka) is designated as a model region for the development of a new city by taking advantage of the rich natural environment and unused land. There is a feature that the fluctuation of the number of customers in the morning and evening rush hour and other times is fierce as seen in the new town access traffic which bears one end of "the employment Separation". Moreover, the addition fare is set for reimbursement of construction costs and is slightly higher than the Sotetsu main line.

Train type and number of operation

With the progress of the Kanagawa Eastern District Line (tentative name) that does not traverse the Yokohama Station which has been used as a terminal station, in order to avoid the hollowing out of Yokohama Station, along with the renewal of the station and its surrounding facilities

It was set up in the middle of the prefecture and Yokohama Station to reduce the deviation of the customer to connect faster, and it had been planned since before. The stopover station between Yokohama Station and Shonandai Station is Izumi Field Station in Futamatagawa Station and Izumi field line. The number of operation is one in both the upper and lower per hour. Basically, the Izumi field line each stop (Shonandai) at Hoshikawa Station is connected to the Izumi field line each stop (go to Shonandai) at Izumi Field Station pursuit. This is because Izumi Central and Yume do not stop the Express is ensured the express also to the hill. Both organized number is basically driving in 10 cars. The travel time between Yokohama and Shonandai is shortened by about 6 minutes compared with the rapid running of the same interval in about 23 minutes.

On February 27, 1999, the new species was established in advance of the opening between Izumi Chuo Station-Shonandai station on March 10 of the same year. From Yokohama Station-Shonandai station, the station is a stop station in the main Line Hoshikawa station, Tsuruga Station, Futamatagawa Station and Izumi field lines. High speed of the Izumi field line system all trains perform direct operation with the main line. The travel time between Yokohama Station and Shonandai station is about 30 minutes. Initially it was only in the morning rush and during the day, and during the day, all the "stops" were replaced every 12 minutes, but it became issuance every ten minutes before long.

Although the number of the day is almost unchanged in the timetable revision of 2006, the operation time is greatly expanded because it was made every 20 minutes, and it is a driving of almost all day which takes a peek at midnight in the early morning (the Saturday holiday is past the evening). It stops at each station according to the name. In the type curtain and the route map, etc., it is often denoted as "each stop", but it is often broadcast with "Each station stop" in the information broadcasting of the station and the car. At the beginning of the day, only half of them had reached the main line at Yokohama Station every 20 minutes. The issuance was made several times thereafter, but on February 27, 1999, "Fast" is set, all trains during the day will be replaced by rapid, setting of each stop of this time zone has disappeared.

However, the timetable revision in May 2006, "Fast" during the day was reduced to the flight, it is set up again as a complement to the present.

Future prospectsEdit

Plan to draw towards Hiratsuka The Izumi field line has obtained the license to Hiratsuka direction by the report of the Transportation Policy Council from the outset that was laid down, in the original plan, Shonandai Station is scheduled to go through the Keio University Shonan Fujisawa campus and pass through the northern Chigasaki city to Hiratsuka Station.

However, since the plan for the Tokaido Shinkansen to be constructed at the Sagami Line Kurami Station has been lifted, the concept of connecting to the Kurami Station (Twin city Planning district) emerged from the middle of the route to the establishment of a branching line or a branch. Currently, in the Sagami Railway (tentative name) East Japan Railway (JR East) and the Tokyo Express Railway (Tokyu) and Tokyu Line are going to interact with each route to be connected via the Kanagawa Eastern District Line.

For Tokyu Direct Line, the Izumi field line is also included on the Sotetsu side.

In 2009, a 10-year extension (license renewal) is being carried out, since the stretching license for the aforementioned Hiratsuka direction expires. In June 2010, in Kanagawa Prefecture, the four students from Fujisawa City, Sagami Railway, and Keio University have established a "study meeting for the realization of the Izumi field line drawing" and, as a result of the two-year study, the area around the Keio SFC campus.

The policy of aiming at the stretch by the Railway (single line) has been selected.

In the report proposal approved by the Traffic Policy Council on April 7, 2016, the stretch from Shonandai Station to the Kurami Station in Samukawa town has been chosen for one of 24 railway lines to be made by 2030.
