After playing for the Free State Cheetahs in the 2012 Under-21 Provincial Championship, he then joined the Eastern Province Kings and was included in their squad for the 2013 Currie Cup First Division season.[4]

He made his debut for the Eastern Province Kings – as well as his Currie Cup debut – in the 37–21 victory over the Griffons on 6 July 2013 in Welkom.[5]
