Petru Racu (born 17 July 1987) is a Moldovan football player, who last played for Neftchi Baku and for Moldova national team as a defender.

CareerEdit

He made his professional debut with FC Zimbru Chisinau in Divizia Națională in 2003. At the age of 16 already winning Moldovan Cup. In the end of that season he was named "Moldova Best Young Player" by the Moldovan Football Federation.

In February 2007 Petru Racu was recruited by IFK Norrköping Sweden. Where he played successfully for five years.

During the 2008 season, he was loaned to the Finnish club MYPA and managed to scored a goal on his debut.

In January 2012, Petru Racu transferred to the Danish club Vendsyssel FF.[2]

After playing for 6 years in Scandinavia Petru Racu returns to Divizia Națională.

In 2014 he is named "Best Moldovan Defender" by the Moldovan Football Federation.

In 2015/2016 season he becomes Champion with FC Milsami Orhei and scored the wining goal in UEFA Champions League qualification match against Ludogorets Razgrad 2-1.

With Sheriff Tiraspol he becomes twice Champion in 2017 and 2018. In 2017/2018 UEFA Europa League edition, they reached the group stage and he played in all 6 group matches.

Petru Racu left Sheriff Tiraspol at the end of 2018.[3] On 15 February 2019, Petru joined his old Sheriff Tiraspol manager Roberto Bordin at Neftchi Baku, signing until the end of the 2018–19 season.[4] Neftchi Baku confirmed Racu's release on 15 May 2019.[5]

International careerEdit

On 11 August 2010, Racu debuted in Moldova national football team, in a friendly match against Georgia.[6]

Petru Racu married to Swedish model Mix Haxholm on June 2008. They divorced in 2015.
