People's Artist of the RSFSR

People's Artist of the RSFSR (Russian: Народный артист РСФСР, Narodnyǐ artist RSFSR) was an honorary title granted to Soviet Union artists, including theatre and film directors, choreographers, music performers, and orchestra conductors, who showed the outstanding achievements in arts, and who lived in the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR). This title was next in line after Meritorious Artist of the RSFSR and preceded the title People's Artist of the USSR.

The title was introduced on 10 August 1931.[1] In 1992, after RSFSR was renamed as Russian Federation, it was replaced with the People's Artist of Russia.

This title is not to be confused with the title which spelled in Russian Народный художник РСФСР, and which was granted for the achievements in visual arts.
