Neha Kakkar (born 6 June 1988) is an Indian singer.[4] She competed on season 2 of the television reality show Indian Idol in 2006 and was a judge on the tenth season of the same show i.e. Indian Idol 10.[3] She also appeared in Comedy Circus Ke Taansen in 2014 on Sony TV. She had judged a singing reality show on Zee TV named Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs.[5]

In 2008, she launched her first album, Neha-The Rock Star and the music was composed by Meet Bros.[6] She has worked in songs "Sunny Sunny" from movie Yaariyan, "Manali Trance" from movie The Shaukeens, "Aao Raja" with singer Yo Yo Honey Singh from movie Gabbar is Back, "Dhating Naach" from movie Phata Poster Nikala Hero, "London Thumakda" from movie Queen, "Dilbar" from movie Satyameva Jayate, "Hanju" (Album) with singer Meiyang Chang, and "Patt Lainge" (Album) with singer Gippy Grewal.[7]

Early life

Kakkar was born in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand.[3] She is the younger sister of playback singer Sonu Kakkar.[8] One of her two brothers, Tony Kakkar, is also a singer.[9][10] Kakkar grew up in Delhi and studied at New Holy Public School, Uttam Nagar, New Delhi.[citation needed] When she participated in Indian Idol Season 2, she was a student of class 11.[citation needed] Kakkar was passionate about music since early childhood. She started singing when she was only four.[citation needed]

Career

She made debut with Indian Idol Season 2 as a contestant. After Indian Idol, she entered music industry with the album ‘Neha The Rock Star’ composed by Meet Bros in 2008. In 2013, Kakkar was in the song ‘Dhating Naach’ for the movie ‘Phata Poster Nikhla Hero’. She was female singer in the popular song ‘Sunny Sunny’ with Honey Singh in 2014 which gave her breakthrough. In the same year, Kakkar gave voice in the song ‘London Thumakda’. Then she gave the voice for the song ‘Party Shoes’ of the Kolkata's movie ’Bindass’.[citation needed]

Kakkar was female voice in ‘Magic Mamoni’ of the Bengali movie where acted Mahiya Mahi. Her other works includes song ‘Car Mein Music Baja’, ‘Dilwale’ movie song ‘Tukur Tukur’, ‘Chitta Kukkad’ for the movie ‘Loveshhuda’, ‘Kala Chashma’ for the movie Baar Baar Dekho in 2016 for the song and song 'Dilbar Dilbar' in 2018 for the film Satyameva Jayate (2018 film), which was recreated by original song with same title from Sirf Tum and became chartbuster.

Personal life

Neha Kakkar and Himansh Kohli were in a relationship since 2014.[11] They broke up in late 2018.[12][13]
