Mergellina is a station of the Naples Metro in Naples, Campania, Italy. The platforms serving Line 2 have been active since 25 September 1925, while the one serving Line 6 has been active since 4 February 2007.[1]

The station is currently managed by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI) and ANM. However, the commercial area of the passenger building is managed by Centostazioni. Train services are operated by Trenitalia. Each of these companies is a subsidiary of Ferrovie dello Stato (FS), Italy's state-owned rail company.

Mergellina station is on Corso Vittorio Emanuele, to the south west of the city centre. It is about 200 metres (660 ft) north of the Mergellina marina, from where the hydrofoils depart for the islands in the Gulf of Naples.

The station was opened on 20 September 1925, upon the inauguration of the Villa Literno–Napoli Gianturco railway.[2] Originally, the station had 5 platforms for passenger services, but since 2009 only platforms 3 and 4 are in operation. Since 2017, the station is unstaffed.
The Line 6 railway, designed by Lampugnani and entry into service February 4, 2007, is the current terminus of the Line 6 while waiting for the line to be extended to Municipio: there are two binary logs. As with the entire line, passenger traffic is still at most, given the small size of the line. In 2008 the station work continues to connect to the train station and Metro Napoli Mergellina, one of the main stations of Naples, in which you can take the metro Line 2. Station is reached by passing under the bridge of the metro Line 2. Mergellina is part of the Art Stations and has been decorated with works by Merz. Another special feature of the station is the inclined elevator.
The previous station is Arco Mirelli, the next is Lala.
Passenger and train movements edit
