Early Life and careerEdit
An Afro-Cuban rapper actually born in Cuba, Mellow Man Ace focused on lovers rap with a blend of urban Hip Hop and occasional bilingual delivery and a heady gift for novelty rhymes. Born Ulpiano Sergio Reyes in 1967, he left Cuba with his family at the age of four and resettled in Los Angeles. He moved to South Gate, California at a very young age. With production from the Dust Brothers and Def Jef, Mellow Man Ace recorded his debut album Escape from Havana, releasing it in 1989 on Capitol. Mellow Man Ace was the first Latino artist to have a major bilingual single attached to his 1989 debut. Almost one year later, the single "Mentirosa" became a Top 20 hit with Ace rapping over a crafty hook from Santana's "Evil Ways." He has been crowned as the “Godfather of Latin Rap”. Also a part of the Latin Alliance project (and the brother of Cypress Hill's Sen Dog), Mellow Man Ace recorded one additional album, The Brother with Two Tongues, then virtually retired from the field, but 2000 brought forth the release From Darkness Into Light. Mellow Man Ace collaborated with his brother Sen Dog and released the album “Ghetto Therapy” in 2006. He has a son Cazal Organism who produces most of his recent music.

Also a member of the Latin Alliance project and the Reyes Brothers (with his older brother Sen Dog of Cypress Hill), Mellow Man Ace recorded one further album, The Brother with Two Tongues, before virtually retiring from the scene.
