Mediapro is based in Barcelona, with branch offices in Madrid, Seville, Girona, Lisbon, Madeira, Budapest, Miami, Porto, Qatar, Amsterdam and Tenerife. Mediapro is controlled since 2018 by the Chinese private equity firm, Orient Hontai Capital.
A Canadian offshoot, OneSoccer, was founded in 2019 to provide coverage of the new Canadian Premier League.
In France, Mediapro obtained in 2018 the Broadcasting rights for the football Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 for 814 million euros per year, but refused to pay the second loan in 2020, arguing that the COVID-19 pandemic changed the term of their contract, and putting French Ligue 1 clubs at risk.[2][3]
