BiographyEdit

Miyano joined The Himawari Theatre Group at the age of 7 under the influence of his older brother, Shota Miyano, yet he did not attend the class as much as he should have. After entering high school, due to the uncertainty he felt towards the future, Miyano started attending singing and dance lessons he has been skipping until now. While taking music lessons, Miyano started to discover his music style through the encounter with music produced by singers like CHEMISTRY and EXILE.[citation needed]

CareerEdit

1992 to 2008: Early roles and musical breakthroughEdit

Miyano's first acting job was in 1992 in Tokusou Exceedraft, where he appeared in a flashback as a child in a yakuza member's past.[3]

In 2001, he debuted as a voice actor in a live action teen drama Caitlin's Way.[citation needed]

He voiced Riku in the Japanese version for the 2002 video game Kingdom Hearts[3] and had his first role in anime in Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Children - Light & Dark.[citation needed]

In 2003, he voiced Kiba, the main character of anime series Wolf's Rain. That same year, Miyano joined the cast of The Prince of Tennis Musical playing Tetsu Ishida (石田 鉄, Ishida Tetsu).

He returned as the voice for Riku in the 2004 Game Boy Advance game Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories.[3]

Miyano returned to the role of Riku Kingdom Hearts II in 2005.[citation needed]

In 2006, Miyano voiced Light Yagami for the anime version of the manga Death Note.[4] For his performance, Miyano was nominated for two awards at the first Seiyuu Awards: "Best Lead Actor" and "Best New Actor".[5][6] He also made his film debut in 2006's The Prince of Tennis.[3]

On May 28, 2007, on the King Records label, Miyano debuted as a singer with the single "Kuon" (久遠, Eternity).[7] "Kuon" debuted at number 47 on the Oricon charts and was used as the ending theme song for anime series Kōtetsu Sangokushi.[8] On June 13, with fellow voice actress Romi Park, the duo released a collaboration single titled "Fight", which debuted on the Oricon chart at number 73.[9] Miyano returned to the role of Riku in Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories in that year.[10][11] Also in 2007, Miyano went on to provide the voice of Setsuna F. Seiei, the main character of Mobile Suit Gundam 00. He won his first award, "Best Voice Actor", at the 2008 Tokyo International Anime Fair for his portrayal of Light Yagami and Setsuna F. Seiei.[12]

On June 4, 2008, he released his second single, "Discovery", which was the intro song for PlayStation 2 video game Fushigi Yūgi: Suzaku Ibun.[13] The song debuted at number 24 on the chart.[14] In August, Miyano released the character single "Soup/Hakosora", under the name "Mamoru Miyano comes across Setsuna F. Seiei" (宮野真守 come across 刹那・F・セイエイ), it debuted at number 18.[15] In December he released his third single, "...Kimi e" (…君へ, ...To You), which also debuted at number 18.[16] That year, Miyano took on the role as Setsuna F. Seiei again for the second season of Mobile Suit Gundam 00. He won his first Seiyuu award for the roles of Setsuna F. Seiei and of Hakugen Rikuson in Kōtetsu Sangokushi.[17] He has also voiced Zero Kiryu and Ichiru Kiryu from the series Vampire Knight and Vampire Knight Guilty, as well as Death The Kid in the anime Soul Eater. He also provided the voice of Tamaki Suoh in the anime version of Ouran High School Host Club, Okabe Rintarō from Steins;Gate, Ling Yao from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Oda Nobunaga from Nobunaga the Fool, Rin Matsuoka from Free!, and Osamu Dazai from Bungou Stray Dogs.

Lacking a series of his own, Zero continued to appear as the main host of Ultraman Retsuden/Shin Ultraman Retsuden and in subsequent Ultra Series entries, with the recent being Ultraman Zero: The Chronicle in 2017.[citation needed]

In 2010, Miyano released his second album, Wonder. The album charted at number 20 on the Oricon Weekly Albums chart. Following the album's release, Miyano went on his second tour, Mamoru Miyano Live Tour 2010: Wondering. Also that year, he began voicing Dent in the popular Pokémon anime series. In the same year he starred with fashion model and actress Ayumi Uehara and fellow voice actors Tomokazu Sugita, Tomokazu Seki, Rikiya Koyama, Yuka Hirata, Showtaro Morikubo and Yūko Kaida in the film, Wonderful World, directed by Daisuke Namikawa.[19]

Miyano participated in the 2011 theatrical play Ultraman Premier in Tokyo, where he portrayed Shin Moroboshi, the human guise of Ultraman Zero.[20]

In April 2012, Miyano released his third album, Fantasista. The album charted at number 4 on the Oricon Weekly Albums chart.[citation needed]

In 2013, Miyano made his first appearance on NHK's music variety show Music Japan.[citation needed]

In 2013, he became the first male voice actor to perform solo at Nippon Budokan arena.[21]

In June 2017, he became the first male voice actor to top weekly Blu-ray chart.[27]

In December 2018, Miyano made his first appearance on FNS Music Festival performing duets with Nana Mizuki and Hiromi Go.
