Former record holdersEdit

  • Luise Rainer (1910–2014), the first actor to win more than one Academy Award and, with that, the first to win back-to-back awards, holds the all-time record as the oldest living winner in any category, dying at age 104 (thirteen days shy of her 105th birthday), on December 30, 2014.[4]
  • George Kennedy (1925–2016) held the record as the oldest living winner in the Best Supporting Actor category until his death at age 91 on February 28, 2016.[5]
  • Martin Landau (1928–2017) held the record as the oldest living winner in the Best Supporting Actor category, following the death of George Kennedy, until his own death at age 89 on July 15, 2017.
