Kockengen

Kockengen is a village in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of Stichtse Vecht, and lies about 11 km northeast of Woerden.

In 2020, the village of Kockengen had 2640 inhabitants. The built-up area of the village was 0.61 km². The statistical area "Kockengen", which also can include the surrounding countryside, has a population of 3440 and an area of 19.5 km².[1]

The name of the town is a reference to Cockaigne, a medieval fictional land of plenty.[2]

Until 1989, Kockengen was a separate municipality. From then until 2011 it was part of the municipality of Breukelen.
