"Janani Janma-bhoomi-scha Swargadapi Gariyasi" (Devanagari: जननी जन्मभूमिश्च स्वर्गादपि गरीयसी, IAST: jananī janmabhūmiśca svargādapi garīyasī) is a Sanskrit shloka and the national motto of Nepal.
This Sanskrit verse can be translated as "Mother and motherland are superior to Heaven."
Different versions of the shloka are as follows.
मित्राणि धन धान्यानि प्रजानां सम्मतानिव |
जननी जन्म भूमिश्च स्वर्गादपि गरीयसी ||
Sage Bharadwaja said, "The friends, the riches and the grains are highly honoured in this world. Mother and mother-land are far superior to even the heaven."

अपि स्वर्णमयी लङ्का न मे लक्ष्मण रोचते |
जननी जन्मभूमिश्च स्वर्गादपि गरीयसी ||
"Lakshmana, even this golden Lanka does not appeal to me, birth giving motherland is greater than heaven."
