  3. ^ [1]"...most of the Hornbostels I am related to lived in the U.S. lived in Brooklyn, NY. My great grandfather Edward Herman Hornbostel was born here but I believe his father was born in Germany, there is a region called "Hornbostel" that they all originated from. My grandmother's uncle was an architect (by the last name of Hornbostel) in Philadelphia."
  4. ^ [2] "My mother and father were both Hornbostels. Our family came from the Muden/Ortez area northeast of Hannover. I believe that the architect you may be looking for is Henry Hornbostel who was a prominent architect in Pittsburgh and was a founder of the Carnegie Tech Dept. of Architect (now Carnegie Mellon Univ.) He was also with firms in NY. I think I originally found this information through , the Mormon/Latter day Saints libraries. You might also check out this site One page that I found has a picture of him and others including his brother, Edward. Hope this may be of use to you."
